Use this prayer when sickness, pain, or exhaustion—physical or emotional—feels heavy, whether for yourself or for someone you love.
Lord, my God,
You are the One who forgives all my iniquity and heals all my diseases.
You know my body better than any doctor,
and You know my thoughts and emotions more clearly than I do myself.
I bring before You today every weakness, every symptom, every diagnosis,
every hidden pain that others cannot see.
You see the nights when sleep will not come,
the days when energy runs out before the tasks do,
and the moments when fear of the future whispers louder than Your promises.
Have mercy on me, Lord.
Heal what You choose to heal by Your power.
Strengthen what You choose to sustain by Your grace.
Give wisdom and skill to every doctor, nurse, therapist, and caregiver involved,
and guide them as instruments in Your hand.
Where my mind is tired and my thoughts are heavy,
speak peace into the noise.
Bind up my broken places, as You have promised,
and draw near to my anxious heart with Your gentle presence.
Teach me, even in weakness, to rest in Your love
and to remember that my life is safely held in Your hands.
If this illness remains longer than I wish,
help me not to waste this season.
Use it to deepen my trust,
to loosen my grip on what cannot last,
and to anchor me more firmly in the hope of the resurrection,
where every sickness and every sigh will finally be gone.
For those I love who are unwell,
stretch out Your hand over them today.
Comfort them in pain, calm them in fear,
and surround them with people who will carry them in prayer and practical care.
Let them sense that they are not forgotten—not by You, and not by Your people.
Lord, I ask for healing,
but even more, I ask for Yourself.
Be my strength when my body is weak,
my song when my spirit feels silent,
and my peace when I do not understand what You are doing.
I bless You, O Lord,
and I do not forget all Your benefits—
that You forgive, that You heal,
that You redeem my life from the pit
and crown me with steadfast love and mercy.
In the name of Jesus, who bore my sorrows and carries my burdens, I pray.
